Program Details
  • Registration for this event includes: participation in the kickoff & finale for the event, access to the team challenges via an app, tips and tricks for using public transportation from the Utah Transit Authority (UTA), a day pass to use public transportation provided by UTA for all team members, and an opportunity to win prizes for the teams with the most points.
  • There is a $15/person fee due with registration.
  • Participants will need to budget additional money depending on which food and activity experiences they choose to partake in during the day. Lunch is not provided, so participants will either need to bring a sack lunch or plan on purchasing lunch at one of the locations they visit throughout the day. There are some great restaurants around Salt Lake City, so you may want to challenge yourself to try something new. Many challenges will be able to be completed for free, but if a team chooses to spend their day at a location that requires an entry fee, then this will need to be covered by the team’s additional budget. Teams on a smaller budget may want to consider bringing $5-15 extra per person, while those that want to participate in more expensive activities may want to bring an extra $25-40 per person.
  • Points earned from completing challenges will be calculated via an app. Instructions on how to access the app and join the event will be sent to teams after registration closes on May 6. Each team will want to plan on having at least 1-2 devices that have access to data and wifi on the day of the event in order to be able to participate.
  • This event includes travel around the city via public transportation and on foot. Participants should be physically prepared to take part in this event.
Team Dynamics
  • All teams will consist of a minimum of 2 adults and 4 Girl Scouts, with a maximum of 10 people total on a team. GSU will place girl-adult family groups into teams.
  • If you have a larger troop that would like to participate in this event, you’ll need to divide into smaller teams that fit the guidelines for a team at this event.
  • Any adult participating needs to be a registered member of Girl Scouts with a valid background check on file who has completed GSU’s youth protection training.
  • Girl Scout participants need to be Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors. The minimum age for participants is those entering 4th grade in fall 2024.
  • Teams must travel together throughout the day and complete challenges as a team in order to receive points for the challenges they’ll be completing.
  • To register, one adult will fill out their team’s information through this page. You’ll need to include a team name and the number of people that will be on your team. You’ll then receive an alternate link where each member of your team will need to complete their individual paperwork. All team members will need to complete their paperwork by May 6 in order to be considered registered. Please communicate with the other members of your team to make sure this gets completed in time.
Event Logistics
This event will begin and end at a central location near downtown Salt Lake City. Teams should plan on arriving at 8:30 am for check-in, so we can begin the event kickoff promptly at 9:00 am. We’ll be going over the rules for the day and releasing the list of challenges at this time. You’ll be given some time to make your plan for the day with your team before being set loose on your adventure around the city. To earn points for any challenges your team completes during the day, teams will need to return to our homebase location by 3:00 pm that afternoon to attend the day’s finale, where they’ll share some highlights from the day and we’ll reveal the winning teams by presenting them with their prizes.

Pre-Event Information
  • During the month of May, the team’s lead adult will be receiving important information about downloading the app and setting up their team. There will be several pre-event challenges that are released to help teams familiarize themselves with the app and be set for success on the day of the event.
  • On May 23 from 5:30-6:30 pm, we will be hosting a virtual information session in partnership with UTA to help prepare you for the event by learning some tips about using public transportation. We’ll share helpful apps and links you can use, go over safety considerations, and go over navigation 101 so you can make the best of your time out traveling.
  • We will also be mailing out the UTA day passes to the team lead the week prior to the event and emailing with instructions on how to use the passes. We encourage teams to travel to the event using their day passes if possible, but there will also be parking available at the kickoff location for those that need to carpool to the event.
  • If any teams will be coming from farther locations around the state in order to participate and plan on staying a night or two, make sure to follow GSU’s travel process as outlined on our website. One-night trips will need to alert their Service Unit Manager and any trips of 2 or more nights will need to be approved by council at least one month in advance.
