What distinguishes a good actor from a great one? What are the elements of a performance that help transport the audience to another reality? More than memorizing lines, it’s the visual, auditory, and subliminal illusions that make the audience believe the actors as they tell a story. During this high-level, intense theater workshop, participants will create the illusions that support actors performing the magic of theater, spending time on: set design/construction, costume design, designing/making props, make up design/techniques, adding sounds, etc. While memorizing a script is not a part of the syllabus, campers will research and perform different body language and speech styles appropriate for a wide variety of characters, and improve their craft. Also, participants will be designing and making sets and props to be used in the 2018 Heathwood Hall high school play! Parents and others are invited to the final Theater Magic showcase at 3:00 pm on Friday, the last day of camp.
