Taste the World
Description
If you have or know of a budding chef in your midst or have kiddos who are curious about food and culture of other countries, this is an excellent opportunity for your student! Food is a powerful connector both culturally and creatively. Students will have the opportunity to explore the recipe process for a variety of foods from different places around the world through the guidance and application of hands-on, kid-friendly recipes. Students will be provided with a brief history, a few phrases, a recipe booklet with the recipes, a crafting activity, fresh ingredients, food prep tools and instruction on food safety, prep and clean-up and step-by-step modeled instruction preparing recipes from different countries/regions around the globe over the course of the week. Students will have the opportunity to eat or take home their culinary creation. The week will culminate with a student-chef competition/challenge where they will judge their peers' culinary creations. Students will have the opportunity to expand their global perspective through the exploration of different recipes and taste their way around the world! (Students will take home their recipe booklets at the end of the week's session.) We explore dishes anywhere from Italy to Brazil to Japan.
