Co-ed Entering grades 9-12. During Westwind’s Teen Adventure 1, campers choose from action-based activities, service projects, and overnight adventure excursions to beautiful locations around Westwind’s 529 acres. Kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, nature exploration, challenge course, two night overnight, hiking, paddle-boarding, and team building are just some of the activities that round out your campers Teen Adventure 1 program. From these experiences, campers find in themselves newfound confidence and strength. They learn how to trust in themselves, and each other, as they work together to explore, problem-solve, and achieve common goals. An empowering experience for all!
Teen Adventure 2:
Co-ed Entering grades 10-12. For those wanting to further their outdoor leadership and adventure skills and applying them to camp in different ways – this *new* teen program is for you! Teen Adventure 2 is a program dedicated to taking the skills, confidence, and adventure learned in Teen Adventure 1 and applying them to camp while working on leadership and team building – all focused around true wilderness and outdoor adventure. Teen Adventure 2 campers will learn how to design a full 2 day overnight and facilitate the entire trip, following specific guidelines and goals set by experienced staff. Back in camp, they will work with youth campers to teach basic outdoor skills such as fire making, shelter building, tying knots and outdoor cooking while also exploring everything Westwind has to offer.
Co-ed Entering grades 9-12. Teen Trekkers is sure to be an exciting week! Using Westwind as the ultimate home base, Trekkers will start at Westwind and then head out into the world, starting the week with a 3-day, 2-night backpacking adventure either along the Oregon Coast or in the Willamette National Forest. The week will end with a day of either surfing or rafting before heading back to Westwind to close out an epic week and spend time participating in Westwind activities, such as campfires, beach walks, star stomping, and maybe even a hike or canoe adventure. Teen Trekkers will help you build skills around confidence, teamwork, problem-solving and independence while strengthening the bond of friendships utilizing the amazing 529 acres of Westwind and expanding into other wilderness areas that Oregon has to offer.
All Teen Adventure campers stay in the Teen Platform Tents where they are introduced to outdoor living skills such as fire and shelter-building while practicing Leave No Trace principles. During the week they get to put these skills to practice on a 2-night overnight adventure in the dunes, estuary and woods on Westwind’s 529 acres.
