Description
Words matter. Learning to find joy and finesse in the written word is a compass that every student should have tucked in their pocket. Come explore poetry in a supportive and uplifting environment! First, we will experiment with different poetic styles, from playful haikus and sensory verses to colorful shape poems. We'll learn to play with words, finding inspiration in nature, emotions, and everyday objects. Next, our writers will step into the role of both author and publisher as they learn foundational bookmaking techniques such as the beginner-friendly "zine" folding, followed by learning how to sew to construct their own book covers and pages. The Final Masterpiece: By the end of the program, every writer will leave with a bound and illustrated poetry journal to share proudly with family and friends. *This is a two-session course offering.
