Research Science Scholars 2026-2027 (2 week course)
Description
Course Purpose: This is a course where students learn about the human endeavor of scientific research, foundational laboratory skills, how to evaluate results using statistical analysis, and how to plan, implement, perform, and communicate research findings.

Successful completion of the credit course will include mastery of some or all of the following content areas:
• How to evaluate scientific literature
• Significance of Statistical analysis – ANOVA, T Test, P Test, Chi Square, R
• Experimental design
• Basic research laboratory skills including but not limited to:
o Micropipetting
o Gel electrophoresis
o PCR
o ELISA
o DNA extraction and purification
o Basic Microscopy
o Bacterial Cultures
o Gram staining
o Sterile Technique
o Basic Neurobiology
o Basic Cell Biology
o Introductory Organic Chemistry
