Riding Into History: The Story of the American Cowboy from the Frontier Times Museum of Bandera
Description
Cowboys played a significant role in the settlement of the American West and became enduring symbols of American culture. This course explores the history of the iconic American cowboy, tracing its roots from the early Spanish cattle handlers known as vaqueros to the young men who rode the cattle trails to become America's first cowboys. Learn about the life of a true cowboy through historical photographs and actual cowboy clothing and tools. We’ll explore how Hollywood films and popular culture created the myth of the cowboy that is often very different than the rough and tumble life of real cowboys.
