Adventures in Chess
Description
This course is suitable for beginners as well as experienced players who need game situation practice under instructor supervision. Students will discuss the origins, history, and applications of chess through the ages and today. Former G/T Chess teacher Suzy Brooks uses fun memory tricks to remind students of how pieces move and capture. She tells original stories that make the pieces come alive with personality, and even uses some body movements to help those kinesthetic learners absorb and utilize the information. We will cover the basics of play as well as the simple beginning, mid-game, and end-game strategies. All week there will be lots of hands-on practice playing against various opponents.
