Miniature Battles-Peloponnesian War
Description
Miniature Battle camps are for people interested in history, strategy, math and games. Students will receive and paint miniatures that relate to each camp for which they are a participant. In these camps, students experience an interactive appreciation of history from a completely different perspective. Various periods of military history from 1500 B.C. to 1945 A.D. are explored using hands-on experience in class. Instructors explore events leading up to the conflicts of our past and our students learn how tactics changed throughout history to adjust to new science and technology. History is experienced by re-recreating battles on a tabletop with miniature warriors which students paint to represent the uniforms of the period. Through this process, students learn tactics, strategy, and problem-solving skills, develop better math skills, team development, and much more. Some classes require painting miniatures, and after the last day of class, the students take home their miniatures.
The Peloponnesian War- The Peloponnesian War was the great struggle between the Greek City State to control all of Greece in the years 431 - 404 BC between Athens and Sparta. Students will receive a 10mm army of one of the Greek City States that they will paint. Then will play tabletop wargames for either Athen or Sparta to control Greece.
