Chefs in Training-Storybook Cooking
Description
There are few things that excite children more than the prospect of cooking! As parents we want to foster that interest and indulge their eagerness but with so much going on, it’s hard to find the time to allow for creativity in the kitchen. Let Suzy Brooks deal with the mess in the kitchen and lead your child in this hands-on class where children experience the joy of cooking. Each day we will read food-themed books, participate in related activities, then prepare and eat the featured food that the kids have had a hand in making. Dragons who love tacos, a boy who lost his grilled cheese, a town covered in spaghetti and many more stories will engage and excite them as they help prepare the foods that have a starring role in the story of the day. In addition to cooking activities, students will learn the importance of cleanliness and how to "not share germs" during food preparation. We will even read a book about germs! As always in Ms. Suzy’s cooking class, campers make their own portion and will eat only the food they personally have touched and prepared. Of course, even though the best part for the children is eating the final result, we are fine with those little chefs who prefer not to eat any particular item.
