3D Printing
This class is a combination of Engineering and 3D printing where campers will make real working tools, toys, and gadgets. They will learn how to design 3D objects with software and try to build gizmos and gadgets (via 3d printing) using the same engineering process that professionals use to create all the products you use today. This program teaches students many useful problem-solving techniques, develops their knowledge of math & science, and many other critical skills, all in one fun class. All materials included, campers will take home their creations. (Grade 2nd-4th)

Art and Writing
Students will use their imagination to infuse both art and writing in this camp. Students will short pieces of writing from different genres, and each piece will include a different style of art. They will also enjoy fun word games that focus on spelling and grammar concepts. By the end of the camp, they will produce a mini portfolio of their creative work! (Grade 2nd-4th)

Black Rocket- Advanced Robotics
The robots are here! Take charge of your future by controlling robots to solve unique creative challenges with your team. Program your robots in the Python coding language using visual and text-based coding tools. Explore the scientific method to observe, plan, test, and modify your robotic approach to problem-solving. No prior experience is required. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. (Grade 3rd-6th)

Black Rocket- Make Your First Video Game
Our classic game design camp reimagined to include even more of what you love! Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that gives you the keys to designing your first 2D platformer game. Conceptualization, level design, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we’ll explore. No prior experience is necessary, just a desire to have fun! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. (Grade 3rd-6th)

This program will allow campers to express their creativity and satisfy their desire to build and experiment. Students will learn the basics of architecture as they experience the joy of building and testing their very own bridges and towers! We will use a variety of materials such as paper, bass and balsa wood. No prior experience is necessary, as we will guide them from start to finish. Campers will learn the building and designing process, and apply it to create bridges/towers. Chess
Introduction to the moves and rules of this intellectual sport with emphasis on problem solving, anticipating consequences and planning ahead, good sportsmanship, and learning from mistakes. Students will practice checkmates and tactics like pins, forks, discovered check, x-ray attacks on worksheets. Playing games with supervision, students will learn how to: open a chess game properly; apply middle game principles; practice basic endgames and checkmates; play comfortably with tournament rules and protocol; win graciously and learn from losses. Instructor will separate groups by skill allowing more advanced players to play against similar opponents. (Grade 1st-8th)

Drobots- Lego + K'NEX Gru's Robotic Minion Mania
Once Upon a Time Gru was a kid just like you! This summer will be perfect for campers to use the latest STEM-approved robots and LEGOS to help Gru in his quest to become the greatest supervillain of all time! Participants will work with (and against) the Minions to build, drive and crash their way through robotic obstacle escape challenges and Despicable Ramps! Campers will learn and use Drobots’ engineering and design process to create their very own Super Villain avatar and test it against the ongoing threat of other villains attempting to pilfer their THUNDER. Children, separated into small teams, will gain exposure to introductory coding concepts via the latest line-following bots and block coding platforms. This program offers an abundance of fun and experimental model building, LEGO-Machining events and Super-coder Challenges! Everything Pokemon
Calling all Pokemon Trainers. Enter into the world of Pokemon for a week of exploring the world of Pokemon, while being active, learning all about Pokemon and making friends. The primary Pokemon game that will be used is Pokemon Go. Everyone is encouraged to have a cell phone with Pokemon Go loaded on the phone, but it is not required. Campers that do not have a cell phone with the game on it may use an iPad or share someone else’s device. Participants will be introduced to the game and more experienced players will have the opportunity to improve their level in the game and learn more advanced skills. Each day campers will walk with their Pokemon buddies all around campus and near campus to visit Poke stops and to raid Pokemon gyms. Campers will learn how to make Pokemon friends and how to trade. We will also play Pokemon themed games. If your camper likes Pokemon they will love this camp! (Grade 1st-5th)

Fishing
Learn everything you need to know about the basics of fishing. Campers are introduced to various fishing terminology and techniques, where and when to fish, how to choose a rod and reel, baits, tying knots, lures, hooks and other fishing tackle. They will practice what they learn with games, casting target practice and fishing in the ponds of PDS. Please bring water shoes and/or extra pairs of sneakers.

Ice Skating
Princeton Day School Summer Programs has once again teamed up with Learn to Skate USA to offer skill levels 1-8. Six progressive levels introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns. Upon completion of the Skills 1-6 levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating. All classes will be well-structured with the focus on proper skill development, taught in a positive, fun and social environment. Skaters will progress at their own rate and advance after skill mastery is demonstrated. Basic 1 and 2: These introductory levels allow new skaters with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the fundamentals. Basic 3–6: These levels develop all of the fundamental skating skills on the ice. Focus is on learning the ABCs of basic athleticism: agility, balance, coordination and speed. Level 7-8 will allow Freestyle level skaters to advance their skills. Skaters will be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level on the first day of class. (Grade 3rd- 8th)

Next Level Soccer Academy

This unique camp is for the experienced climber. It is an opportunity for them to further extend their adventure experience. They will have the chance to learn all the skills necessary to facilitate ropes course content. These include: belay skills, knots, set up and take down procedures, and work to lead low challenge course initiatives. They will work with experienced staff members who will help them hone the skills that are necessary to work in this environment. Offered in the mornings of all weeks.
