3D Printing
This class is a combination of Engineering and 3D printing where campers will make real working tools, toys, and gadgets. They will learn how to design 3D objects with software and try to build gizmos and gadgets (via 3d printing) using the same engineering process that professionals use to create all the products you use today. This program teaches students many useful problem-solving techniques, develops their knowledge of math & science, and many other critical skills, all in one fun class. All materials included, campers will take home their creations. (Grade 2nd-4th)

Black Rocket- Beats and Jams: Digital Music Creators
Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today's top artists, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, students will learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their own tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. Student-created soundtracks will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. (Grade 3rd-6th)

Black Rocket- Virtual Reality: The Future is Now
Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! In this cutting-edge class, learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, crafting 3D experiences, and learning basic programming concepts. At the end of the week, take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or mobile device. Students do not need a mobile device to take the class, but will need access to a mobile device at home. VR projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. (Grade 3rd-6th)

Bridges and Towers
This program will allow campers to express their creativity and satisfy their desire to build and experiment. Students will learn the basics of architecture as they experience the joy of building and testing their very own bridges and towers! We will use a variety of materials such as paper, bass and balsa wood. No prior experience is necessary, as we will guide them from start to finish. Campers will learn the building and designing process, and apply it to create bridges/towers. Every day they will challenge themselves and compete with their group in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. (Grade 2nd-4th)

Chess
Introduction to the moves and rules of this intellectual sport with emphasis on problem solving, anticipating consequences and planning ahead, good sportsmanship, and learning from mistakes. Students will practice checkmates and tactics like pins, forks, discovered check, x-ray attacks on worksheets. Playing games with supervision, students will learn how to: open a chess game properly; apply middle game principles; practice basic endgames and checkmates; play comfortably with tournament rules and protocol; win graciously and learn from losses. Instructor will separate groups by skill allowing more advanced players to play against similar opponents. (Grade 1st-8th)

Crafting Craze
This week will involve running around and creating natural and ‘traditional’ crafts using collected material like sticks, leaves, rocks, and of course mud! We will create many natural crafts using material the campers gather themselves. Crafts may include sun dried handmade paper and candles. Rest assured these campers will have plenty of fun crafts to show off! (Grade 1st-4th)

In Creative Writing, campers write poetry and fiction in a writing workshop setting. Campers will play word games and engage in activities to enrich their vocabulary, write drafts, edit and publish their work. (Grade 3rd-5th)

Everything Pokemon
Calling all Pokemon Trainers. Enter into the world of Pokemon for a week of exploring the world of Pokemon, while being active, learning all about Pokemon and making friends. The primary Pokemon game that will be used is Pokemon Go. Everyone is encouraged to have a cell phone with Pokemon Go loaded on the phone, but it is not required. Campers that do not have a cell phone with the game on it may use an iPad or share someone else’s device. Participants will be introduced to the game and more experienced players will have the opportunity to improve their level in the game and learn more advanced skills. Each day campers will walk with their Pokemon buddies all around campus and near campus to visit Poke stops and to raid Pokemon gyms. Campers will learn how to make Pokemon friends and how to trade. We will also play Pokemon themed games. If your camper likes Pokemon they will love this camp! (Grade 1st-5th)

Fishing
Learn everything you need to know about the basics of fishing. Campers are introduced to various fishing terminology and techniques, where and when to fish, how to choose a rod and reel, baits, tying knots, lures, hooks and other fishing tackle. They will practice what they learn with games, casting target practice and fishing in the ponds of PDS. Please bring water shoes and/or extra pairs of sneakers.

Fishing- Advanced (Fly Fishing)
Take fishing to the next level. As with the fishing camp for younger campers this camp will introduce various fishing terminology and techniques, where and when to fish, how to choose a rod and reel, baits, tying knots, lures, hooks and other fishing tackle. In addition, this camp will take fishing to the next level with the introduction of fly fishing. A day will be spent introducing the art of fly casting and all that is a part of fly fishing. Each day campers will have the opportunity to spin fish and or fly fish. (Grade 5th-8th)

Ice Skating
Princeton Day School Summer Programs has once again teamed up with Learn to Skate USA to offer skill levels 1-8. Six progressive levels introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns. Upon completion of the Skills 1-6 levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating. All classes will be well-structured with the focus on proper skill development, taught in a positive, fun and social environment. Skaters will progress at their own rate and advance after skill mastery is demonstrated. Basic 1 and 2: These introductory levels allow new skaters with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the fundamentals. Basic 3–6: These levels develop all of the fundamental skating skills on the ice. Focus is on learning the ABCs of basic athleticism: agility, balance, coordination and speed. Level 7-8 will allow Freestyle level skaters to advance their skills. Skaters will be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level on the first day of class. (Grade 3rd- 8th)

Mini-Panthers enjoy a wide assortment of activities geared directly to their age, interests and activity levels. This high ropes camp offers the experienced climber the opportunity to stretch themselves with the more challenging elements on the state-of-the-art PDS ropes course. This fast paced, climbing experience includes both individual and dual high elements. It also includes the Voyageur Course, a series of challenges connected by a self-belay system with dual entry access from the/ climbing tower or cargo net. Ropes Course- Student Facilitator
This unique camp is for the experienced climber. It is an opportunity for them to further extend their adventure experience. They will have the chance to learn all the skills necessary to facilitate ropes course content. These include: belay skills, knots, set up and take down procedures, and work to lead low challenge course initiatives. They will work with experienced staff members who will help them hone the skills that are necessary to work in this environment. Offered in the mornings of all weeks. Squash Camp
Summer squash camp is a great opportunity to learn this beautiful game while having fun, making new friends, and improving hand-eye-coordination. Whether your child is a beginner or has played for a couple of years, we will be able to accommodate every player's individual needs. We will be focusing on swing fundamentals/mechanics, court movement, speed & agility circuits, and reflex training with BlazePods (light sensor system). Considering it is one of the fastest sports, your child will greatly benefit from playing squash. It will also benefit participation in any other sport. For more experienced players, in addition to the above mentioned, we will also be working on target hitting, complex drills, game plan/strategy, conditioned games, mental toughness, upper and lower body strength, and yoga & stretching.
