Into the Wild: Nature Exploration (WK4-AD-7/13-7/17 )
7/13/2020 - 7/17/2020
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Grades 4th - 7th
This session has openings. Registration for this session will end on 8/20/2020.
This class will use the natural areas of OES, as well as the greater Portland area, to explore and learn about our local urban ecosystem and the plants and animals that live here. We will focus on learning how to make detailed and thoughtful observations of nature, while developing our skills as Naturalists through plant and animal identification, use of a dichotomous key, understanding ecological relationships, and journaling. Through observing, writing, and drawing about our experiences, we will learn to make personal connections with each place we visit and deepen our relationship to the land and our sense of identity. Students should be prepared to be outside most of the day in all weather conditions and hike up to 4 miles.
