Clayful Characters - Stories in Clay
Description
Students will join Sarah each week and gather around a wonderful book featuring an animal character, enjoying the story, exploring the language, and getting to know the characters who bring each tale to life. We’ll pay special attention to the details that make characters memorable, from their personalities and expressions to their actions, feelings, and all that makes them unique. We’ll notice how authors use words and illustrations to bring characters to life and inspire our own ideas as readers and creators.
Then, we’ll bring those characters off the page and into our hands, using clay to imagine, build, and sculpt our own creations. Along the way, we’ll experiment with different clay techniques, discover new ways to work with the material, and add color to our creations the following week. We’ll end our eight weeks with a Claynimals Gallery, celebrating a collection of one-of-a-kind creations inspired by stories, shaped by imagination, and brought to life by each young artist!
