The Art of Songwriting: Learn How to Write Your Own Songs!
Description
In this class, students will learn how to write their own original songs! Through songwriting games, song analysis, creative prompts, and guided activities, students will explore lyric writing, melody, rhythm, rhyming, song structure, musical genres, singing, and creative expression.

The class will begin in a supportive, collaborative “writers’ room,” where students brainstorm ideas and create songs together with live guitar and/or piano accompaniment provided by the instructor. Along the way, students will build creative confidence by learning to access their ideas, share them freely, experiment, and refine them as a song takes shape.

As students gain confidence, they’ll progress toward small-group and individual songwriting projects, including creating music inspired by their favorite artists and styles. As the class progresses, students will be welcome to bring in their own instruments (though not required), and there will be opportunities to share and perform their creations.

No previous songwriting, singing, or instrumental experience is required!
