The Jewelry Makers Club: Art You Can Wear
Description
The Jewelry Makers Club will introduce students to the fun and creativity of jewelry making! Each week, students will learn to create different types of friendship bracelets, keychains and beaded jewelry, including necklaces, rings, and earrings, using a variety of materials such as string, wire, and colorful beads.
As a lifelong jewelry maker, Hayden, 4th grade associate teacher, brings a strong background in the craft, having taken jewelry-making classes throughout childhood, attended a jewelry design summer camp, and started a small business selling handmade beaded rings during COVID. She believes jewelry making is a wonderful skill for kids—building fine motor skills, encouraging creativity, and provides a calming, hands-on outlet for self-expression. Students will leave the class with a collection of handmade pieces they can gift to friends and family or simply enjoy themselves.
