Expertos en Español
Description
This weeklong "mini course" will introduce campers to Spanish language and culture and is designed to explore Spanish through the traditions, customs, and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The vocabulary, structures, and cultural points acquired in this course are introduced through stories, songs, or pictures. You will be able to communicate using some common and high-frequency language including the "super seven" verbs (to go, to be, to like, to have, to want, there is and there are) from the first, second and third person forms through various activities that include games, acting, illustrating, co-writing stories with Caroline, m/u Spanish teacher, and answering direct questions during calendar talks and student interviews. At this level you will start to communicate on some very familiar topics using single words and phrases that are recycled and used in context throughout the day. Topics include giving and asking for some basic information in Spanish (name, age, origin, likes, dislikes), greetings and farewells, talking about family and weather as well as understanding some common practices, products, and perspectives of Spanish speaking cultures that include food, music and special festivals such as La Tomatina in Buñol, Spain.
