Movement for the Actor
Description
Movement is at the center of creating character. How you move in space is the first communication you give to an audience. In this class, you will increase your mobility, express-ability…and castability! You will learn to analyze your movement strengths and habits, allowing you to expand your range with movement investigations -- thereby expanding the types of characters that you can convincingly portray on stage. Methodologies studied: Bartenieff's fundamentals and Laban's movement analysis, which you generally don’t get exposed to until college or graduate school! This class is great for students who have been exposed to physical theatre, like Commedia dell’Arte, as well as those who have done Shakespeare and/or basic acting training.
