Each day, a building challenge will be presented: interlocking to make towers, then using windows & doors, adding LEGO elements such as fences, animals, and vegetation, and building with other unique pieces. We will also create pyramids and mosaics, and build vehicles and facades. Verbal and communication skills are enhanced as students describe their creations to others. 486 S.T.E.A.M. Robotics: Computer-Controlled (7-12) 12:30-3PM Join us for a week of LEGOs and computers as we develop building skills in S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) as well as language and communication concepts. This workshop features robots built with specific LEGO bricks and elements, and focuses on building robots (boat, soccer kicker and goalie, alligator, and more). Throughout the week, students will create robots that incorporate a variety of parts (such as a motor, tilt sensor, or motion sensor). To control their robots' movements, students will use a specially designed LEGO USB Hub programmed through computer software. To advance their skills, students are encouraged to design their own computer program to operate their robots.

488 Cruise Through the Caribbean (4-8) 12:30-3PM Pack your bags, Explorers - we’re going on an adventure around the Caribbean! Each day, our travelers will visit a new country to discover its people, language, food and culture through crafts, stories, and activities. Campers will create their own passports and suitcases to hold souvenirs from each stop on our journey, taste traditional treats, and make colorful keepsakes inspired by each country.

492 The Literacy Lab: One Week (6-8) 12:30-3PM Welcome to The Literacy Lab - Summer Edition! This ONE-WEEK (afternoons) interactive camp helps young learners ages 6-8 master the fundamentals of reading and writing through the Orton-Gillingham approach. Campers will explicitly review and write the 70 phonograms, recognize and manipulate sounds, practice reading skills and build confidence in their literacy journey. Using creativity to reinforce learning, participants will enjoy making fun crafts that connect to the phonograms and book of study. Guided by certified instructors (M.Ed., CALT, Spalding), students will read exciting stories highlighting phonetic patterns, and enjoy rhymes and chants to solidify our understanding of sounds and symbols. Through fun games, they will connect sounds to letters and words, making learning enjoyable and playful!
