Ocean Explorers: Incredible Invertebrates
Description
Do you love learning about marine science and exploring ocean life? Join us for a fun-filled week in Canterbury’s equipped marine studies facility, the Cousteau Center of Marine Studies! Dive into the fascinating world of spineless sea creatures in this incredible week of marine science exploration! Campers will participate in field excursions to local environments like Fort De Soto Beach and mangrove trails at Weedon Island, where they’ll explore estuary ecosystems using dip-nets, seine nets, and snorkeling to observe the unique habitats of invertebrates. On the Canterbury campus, they will conduct hands-on science labs and activities. Campers will also dive into the world of plankton through microscope labs, discovering how these tiny organisms play a critical role in the ocean’s food chain. If weather allows, participants may enjoy a paddleboarding or kayaking adventure to explore marine habitats up close. This camp is perfect for curious minds ready to uncover the incredible lives of marine invertebrates and their role in sustaining ocean ecosystems.
