Horse Camp- Girls 8.5
Description
For Intermediate and Advanced riders who can confidently control a horse at a walk and trot. When ready, advanced riders may try bareback riding and controlling at a lope. Highlights of this program may include leading activities for younger campers, hands-on equine science lessons, and games on horseback, depending on scheduling options and length of session.

When registering for a horse camp session, campers are signing up for the program as a whole—not for a specific riding level. On the first day of camp, our riding staff will assess each camper’s ability through a short riding evaluation to determine their appropriate level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Placement decisions are made with safety as the top priority and to ensure the best learning experience for every rider. This may mean campers are placed in a group they’ve been in before, or one that is higher or lower than expected.

Session 8.5 is exclusive to girls.

Each summer, we offer an extended session to our Advanced & Intermediate riders. This session, denoted with a ‘.5’, is 12 days at camp including staying over the weekend. This extended time allows campers to participate in all of the Classic Camp activities, as well as getting more time spent on horse. The double session also includes a workshop on leadership, an opportunity to plan horsey-activity night for younger campers, a volunteer opportunity with a local vashon organization, and depending on skill level – more advanced riding techniques.

2027 Update: The double session is 8.5. Open to Intermediate & Advanced. This extended session DOES NOT have return transportation – all participants will need to be checked-out on Vashon Island at Camp Sealth on the last day of program.

An application is required for this session and needs to be complete within 1 week of registration and 2 weeks prior to camp arrival. Please follow the link below.
