Groton Duck Race
Description
Get ready to splash into creativity! In the Duck Raft Design Challenge, participants will design and build a small “duck raft” (a mini boat) that can safely carry a rubber duck down a flowing stream. The goal is to create a raft that is stable, fast, and able to navigate twists, turns, and gentle obstacles along the way.

Using simple materials and teamwork, designers will brainstorm ideas, sketch plans, build prototypes, and test their rafts before the big launch. Participants will learn about buoyancy, balance, and the power of water flow while solving real engineering challenges.

On race day, Groton's top raft will be released into the stream and cheered on as they travel downstream competing against others in the county. Will your raft be the fastest? The most creative? The most durable? Awards can be given for speed, design, and “Best Duck Ride.” The race will take place in Ithaca at the 4-H Duck Race event all are welcome to attend.
