Pedal the Planets: SBC Friday
Description
Join Norte Youth Cycling for some astronomy themed Friday fun! Norte is partnering with The Botanical Gardens to Pedal the Planets and visit the Moon Tree! Riders will experience the TART Trail's planet path as they ride to the Botanical Gardens. Once at the Botanical Gardens, riders will get to participate in a community event centered around the "Moon Tree" that was gifted to the Botanical Gardens by NASA. Numerous tree seeds went into space aboard the Artemis 1 which were then brought back to Earth for planting. One of those "Moon Tree" seeds ended up here in Traverse City!

For this one-day experience, riders will meet up with their coaches and teammates at the Norte Wheelhouse at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center. From there, Norte Coaches will guide the ride from the Wheelhouse to The Botanical Gardens using the TART planet pathway. Riders will stop along the way for snacks, bathroom breaks, and to play. They will arrive at The Botanical Garden in time for various activities centered around the Moon Tree- hands on science crafts, books, NASA artifacts, a conversation with a former astronaut, and more! Unlike Summer Bike Camp, this one day event ends at The Botanical Gardens at 12:30pm. Riders will need to be picked up, along with their bikes and helmets, from The Botanical Gardens by their designated adult.
