Urban Planning through Minecraft: Week 9
Description
Through hands-on digital building and collaborative problem-solving, campers will examine how the design of cities influences transportation, sustainability, equity, community connectivity, and overall quality of life. They will investigate urban planning as a modern, impactful career field—studying zoning, land use, transit systems, green spaces, and environmental considerations. They’ll analyze real-world challenges such as reducing traffic congestion, improving walkability, designing mixed-use neighborhoods, and integrating renewable energy features into their city builds. As campers develop and test their own virtual cities, they will: apply critical thinking to balance community needs, experiment with various transportation models, design public spaces that support social and environmental health, and collaborate with peers to refine and present their projects.
