Allergy Kitchen Volunteer Application
Description
Allergy Kitchen Volunteers will help prepare meals for campers with food allergies in a dedicated allergy- safe kitchen. Under the supervision of the Allergy Kitchen Manager, you will assist with meal prep and ensure food is prepared according to allergy-specific guidelines. This role focuses primarily on food prep tasks and may involve cooking on the stove or oven.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with meal preparation for campers with food allergies, including tasks like cracking eggs, prepping desserts, chopping vegetables, and preparing meats.
- Handle and organize hot trays as needed.
- Follow safety protocols and assist with cleaning dishes and maintaining a tidy kitchen environment.
- Report to the Allergy Kitchen Manager for training and task delegation.
- Volunteers may be asked to assist in the main kitchen, depending on the week's needs.

Typical Daily Schedule:
- Breakfast Prep: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- Lunch Prep: 11:00/11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
- Dinner Prep: 4:00/4:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Note: Shift times may vary depending on the number of allergy participants and program size.

Qualifications:
- Two recommendations, one being from a current ministry leader (if applicable).
- Clearances and approval from Hope for Kids.
- Comfortable using kitchen tools such as scissors and knives.
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist with various tasks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a hot kitchen environment.
- Previous experience in the food service industry is a plus (please list on your application).

Additional Volunteer Perks and Accommodations:
- When not assigned to kitchen tasks, you are welcome to participate in camp activities, devotionals, and enjoy fellowship with fellow volunteers.
- You will have downtime to relax and connect with other volunteers.
- Volunteers will stay in shared accommodations with other volunteers of the same gender, featuring twin camp beds and a shared bathroom.
- The cabins are not air conditioned but most cabings have ceiling fans. Additional fans are available in the Great Hall supply closet if needed.

Additional Notes:
- Please do not bring personal aprons or cookware.
- The allergy kitchen is a nut, shellfish and gluten free environment.
