Leadership Lab: Culture Connection 5th-8th Grade
Description
When youth are given the opportunity to learn in authentic situations, the learning becomes significantly more powerful. That’s why our Leadership Labs are centered around real-world projects that offer opportunities to intentionally learn and actively practice leadership skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, self-awareness and empathy. This experiential education program features carefully curated, hands-on activities and reflection based on the chosen theme and builds the critical skills needed to navigate the world successfully as well as a deep sense of belonging among participants.

The Pioneer Leadership Lab theme is Culture Connection. Pioneers will focus on learning about Milwaukee through learning about its people. Pioneers will meet twice a week for five weeks. They will visit ethnic grocery stores and interview Milwaukee residents to explore culture through food. Our young leaders will create a final showcase that highlights resident stories, offers art activities and samples of ethnic cuisine, and encourages others to explore more of Milwaukee.
