Discover the Cultures of Asia and the Pacific with the AANHPI Badge Discovery Kit!

Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with this hands-on Badge Discovery Kit! Girl Scouts will explore the traditions, languages, and art forms of AANHPI cultures through creative activities that foster understanding, appreciation, and connection. From India to Hawai‘i, this kit highlights the rich contributions and diverse identities that make up the AANHPI community—including local ties to Oklahoma’s vibrant Vietnamese population.

Girls will build cultural awareness while practicing mindfulness, honoring heritage, and celebrating resilience, creativity, and beauty from across the AANHPI diaspora.

What’s Included:
Your troop will receive step-by-step instructions, all necessary materials, and reflection prompts to guide girls through six engaging cultural activities. Each activity explores a different country’s traditions through art, language, or storytelling. Girls will also use a special passport booklet to track their journey and reflect on what they’ve learned along the way.

The kit includes a commemorative AANHPI Heritage Patch, earned upon completion.

This kit is perfect for troop meetings, bridging ceremonies, or as a ready-to-go activity when your troop needs something meaningful and fun—especially during AANHPI Heritage Month in May. It’s also a great option for Girl Scouts working independently or outside of regular troop meetings

Program Completion:
When girls complete the activities, they’ll earn the AANHPI Heritage Patch and walk away with a deeper understanding of AANHPI cultures, values, and contributions—locally and globally.

Registration and Availability
Registration for the AANHPI Badge Discovery Kit opens on May 7, 2025. Kits will be available for pick-up or shipping starting May 14, 2025, and every two weeks after that.

Kit Options:
  • Metro Troops (within 25 miles of Council at 6100 N Robinson Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73118) are highly encouraged, but not required, to opt to pick up their kits at the Council office. Each girl’s kit will be organized into a larger troop kit and ready for pick-up at the 2nd-floor pick-up area.
  • Non-Metro Troops will receive individual mailers for each girl delivered to the address provided at registration.
Important Shipping Details:
If you select the shipping option, be sure your address is current in our system when registering. Double-check your address with Customer Care at GSWESTOK to confirm accuracy. You will also receive an email from stamakuwala@gswestok.org to verify the shipping address. Accurate address information is crucial for delivery, and we’ll work to ensure everything is correct.

Registration is open until May 30, 2026!
The first kits will be ready for pick-up or shipping on May 14, 2025, and will continue every two weeks from that point forward.
If you register less than three days before a pick-up/ship date, your kit will be available for the following pick-up/ship date, not the one three days away.

(Includes HAT, Outdoor Committee, and Alumni Events)
Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If GSWESTOK cancels an event, registrants will be notified and offered a full refund.

Registration Cancellation by Participant. Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. A doctor's note will be required for any refunds after the cancellation deadline. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event.
