Summer Institute - Painting

Eligible students are entering grade 9 –12.

The course explores painting media utilizing drawing skills and the elements and principles of art. Students are slowly guided through the process necessary to create a successful painting. They learn about color mixing, color theory, creating volume and texture, and how to compose a piece. They will learn to create original paintings based on composition and a balance between technique and personal expression. Students work with acrylic, oil paint, and a variety of surface materials to create the assignments.

Can be taken as Painting 1, Painting 2, or Painting Portfolio depending on needs.
