Men Creating Community- Spring Sessions
Description
The Men Creating Community book study will return February 18th at Camp Mack. We will meet the third Wednesday of each month from February thru May. This is a time for prayer, devotion, reflection, fellowship, food and study with other local pastors and church members.
We meet from 9-3 at the Wampler House. We take time for a delicious lunch at the John Kline center, and then take time to walk, talk and rest, before we resume our study from 1:30-3:00.
This session our book for study will be by a local scholar J. Nelson Kraybill titled “Apocalypse and Allegiance: Worship, Politics, and Devotion in the Book of Revelation”.
In this lively introduction, J. Nelson Kraybill shows how the book of Revelation was understood by its original readers and what it means for Christians today. Kraybill places Revelation in its first-century context, opening a window into the political, economic, and social realities of the early church. His fresh interpretation highlights Revelation's liturgical structure and directs readers' attentions to twenty-first-century issues of empire, worship, and allegiance, showing how John's apocalypse is relevant to the spiritual life of believers today.
We will make contact with Dr. Kraybill and hopefully he can join us in person or by zoom for one of our sessions.
