Frequently Asked Questions

Summer Camp FAQ

Q:Are there scholarships available?
A:Yes, please fill out our Scholarship Application located on our website and return either via email or in person to our nature center.

Q:Can I sign my child up for just one day or one week?
A:We do not allow one day or one week signups at this time for ages 5-9. You are required to sign up for either Mon/Tues, Wed/Thurs, or all 4 days for the 2 week session.

Q:Do children wear masks all day?
A:We require children to wear masks while indoors and in vehicles. We do not require them to wear masks outside, which is the majority of the day at Wild Bear.

Q:What are you doing to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks and spread?
A:We require masks while indoors and in vehicles. Children wash their hands regularly, and remain outdoors for most of the day.

Q:What are your drop off/pickup procedures for full day camps?
A:Drop off and pick up take place at Wild Bear Nature Center in Nederland. Drop off is between 8:00-9:00am. Pick up is between 3:30 and 4:00pm. Grown-ups will meet a Wild Bear Staff Member at the nature center with the sign-in sheet. Grown-ups will sign their child in or out and confirm that the child has everything on the Happy Camper Checklist and that we have the proper contact information for that day.

Q:What forms do I have to fill out?
A:Grown-ups registering their children will register via UltraCamp. We require immunization records or exemptions before the first day of programs. Required forms can be found and uploaded via the UltraCamp document center on the upper lefthand side of the page.

Q:What is the structure of the programs?
A:Once the children have arrived they will go outdoors for most of the day, staying at local locations such as open spaces, hiking trails, Wild Bear’s property at Mud Lake, community gardens, the Barker Reservoir, local stocked fishing lakes, etc. Children will be instructed by trained Nature Educators and Nature Education Interns following that month’s or week’s nature theme. They will spend most of the day outdoors as weather permits. At the end of the day, children will return to the nature center to be picked up between the hours of 3:30pm and 4pm.

Q:What is Wild Bear's plan for inclement weather?
A:Because we are keeping our group sizes to 12 children, guidelines from the CDC have stated that our programs are safe to move indoors if it is absolutely necessary. However, we pride ourselves on providing excellent outdoor education, so we do our best to keep programs outside even in snow and rain. Wild Bear will not be providing refunds if parents are unable to travel to Nederland due to inclement weather.

Q:What is Wild Bear's refund policy?
A:Tuition and fees will be refunded if cancellation is made at least 3 weeks prior to the date the child was to attend; if less than 3 weeks notice is given tuition and fees will be refunded ?only if the child’s space can be filled. In all cases an administration fee of 10% of your cancellation total or $25.00 whichever is larger will be retained.

Q:Will Wild Bear be offering a shuttle to/from Boulder for camp?
A:Yes, we are offering a shuttle both ways for an extra $10 a day. Please add this on during registration if you would like to sign up!
