Summer School Agreement - 2026 Policies
By registering my child for this summer course, I acknowledge that my child and I have read and understood the following Summer Academic Program Policies: ATTENDANCE: Students who choose to enroll in summer courses are expected to attend class daily. Credit-Bearing Courses: Students with unexcused absences for more than 6 hours of a one-semester course or for more than 12 hours of a two-semester course will be withdrawn from their course, will receive a “W” for the summer course on their transcript, and will need to recomplete any required coursework during the school year. Non-Credit Enrichment Courses: For non-credit enrichment courses for incoming freshmen, students with unexcused absences for more than two (2) days of the course will be withdrawn from the course. Absences for vacations, other camps or summer programs, non-Fenwick athletic competitions, or seasonal employment will be considered unexcused. Tuition will not be refunded when a student is withdrawn from their summer course due to nonattendance. The following are considered excused absences: Illness (doctor’s note required) Medical appointments (doctor’s note required) Funerals Court (paperwork must be submitted) Absences for these reasons without submission of required documentation will be considered unexcused. To report an absence, please email attendance@fenwickfriars.com and call (708) 948-0341 by the start of the student’s class on the date of the absence. Please provide the following information: Student’s full name and year in school Parent/guardian’s full name A specific and fully stated reason; please submit any supporting documentation via email Parent/guardian daytime phone number Students’ absences must be excused before students may earn credit for coursework due or assessments missed during their absences. Students with excused absences should reach out to their teachers to make plans to get caught up on coursework missed. Students who miss more than 6 hours of a one-semester course, or 12 hours of a two-semester course for any reason—including for excused absences—will need approval from the Principal to remain in their summer courses. At Fenwick’s discretion, students with total absences for any reason exceeding these thresholds may be asked to take their courses during the school year instead to ensure full learning and engagement with the course material. COURSE DROPS: If a student wishes to drop a credit-bearing class, they must do so on or before Friday, June 12, 2026; otherwise, the class will appear on their transcript with a “W.” If a student completes half of a two-semester course, their first semester grade will be permanent. SEMESTER EXAMS/ASSESSMENTS: For credit-bearing courses, semester assessments will be scheduled during class time by the course instructor. Students will only be able to make up missed semester assessments if they have an excused absence. REFUNDS: There will be a $100 cancellation fee for withdrawing from a class between March 28, 2026 and May 15, 2026. No refunds will be issued for summer school for any reason beginning May 16, 2026. Fenwick reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment, in which case all student fees will be refunded. DRESS CODE: A summer school student’s general appearance must be neat, clean, and well-groomed at all times. Please review the Parent/Student Handbook for general expectations regarding students’ appearance and dress code. Students out of dress code may be sent home to change; time missed from class will be unexcused.
