Description: |
racing is open to students with skill ranges from beginner to advanced.
High School sailing is the fastest growing segment of sailing in the United States. This can be attributed to its focus on team sailing. At the Wayzata Community Sailing Center, we use this form of sailing as a vehicle to teach teamwork and leadership. Students of all levels are accepted. Some schools have formed teams, however, school sponsorship is not required for participation in our program, independents are welcome.
High school training will be conducted with our college sailing program midweek. Starting in April, we train in 420s with jib and main sail exclusively. In the fall our sailors will train in Lasers and 420s.
A full regatta schedule has been planed for both sessions, the schedule includes; open local events, the Minnesota State Coed, and Single-handed Championships, as well as Midwest regattas in Madison and Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, and Grosse Point, Michigan.
