Description: The bus leaves Amity Acres Day Camp by 9:30 am and arrives at Chariot Riders, Manchester where all participants receive horse safety instruction, riding lessons and barn management skills. Girls will, if time permits, do arts & crafts, games and other activities on site. Once returning to Amity Acres Day Camp girls will be permitted to swim if time permits. Horse activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted accordingly. No reimbursement will be given for program adjustments.

Saddle up and ride! Experienced instructors from Chariot Riders stables lead all horse sessions. All participants receive horse safety instruction. Horse activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted accordingly. No reimbursement will be given for program adjustments.

Campers participating in horseback riding are required to wear approved safety helmets, which are provided. Long pants, closed toe/closed heel, hard-soled shoes with up to a one inch-flat heel are required.

Discounts may not be applied to horse programs. Girls without a signed Health History and a horse rider's release form will not be permitted to participate in the horse program. No refunds will be given and missed days may not be made up in a different week.

Available to girls entering 6th grade and above. Throughout the week, girls will complete the Interest Project Patch, Horse Sense. The girls will be able to saddle and bridle a horse; they will do this after learning how to identify the different tack and determine its best use. Girls will master basic horse control and learn the rules of a safe trail ride. Girls will also learn basic horse anatomy and the prevention and treatment of common horse ailments. For the riding lesson, girls will be grouped according to ability.

All girls are invited to participate in the Wednesday evening campfire from 4-8 p.m. during the week(s) they attend Day Camp. Dinner and snack are included, along with games, activities and time in the lake (weather-permitting).

Amity OvernightBegins at 4 p.m. Available for girls entering 4th grade or above.
Fee: $30

The fee includes Wednesday dinner, evening snack, Thursday breakfast, lunch and snack. Dinner, games, time in the lake and singing around the campfire are generally part of this sleepover experience (weather permitting). All activities are supervised by Amity Acres Day Camp staff who reside in each unit overnight with the campers. If you attend Day Camp during a week in which there is no overnight scheduled, you are invited to join us for an overnight in a week wherein one is scheduled.
