Chris Hooyman Memorial Mt. Rainier Climb
Description
This intrepid 5-day climb is an incredible feat that honors the legacy and memory of Chris Hooyman and his lifelong passion for providing youth outdoor education. We have space for nine mountaineers on this four-day climb of Mount Rainier, the most prominent peak in North America and the most heavily glaciated mountain in the lower 48 United States. You will work as a team as you gain 9,000 feet of elevation to attempt the summit at 14,411 feet, learning technical skills such as how to use an ice axe and crampons in the process. No experience is necessary; all you need is the desire and determination to meet the challenge of the summit while supporting a great cause. There is a $4,000 fundraising goal for this climb that will support the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s BOLD & GOLD program.
Climber orientation and gear check will occur Sunday, June 23rd at the Cascade People’s Center – BOLD & GOLD Basecamp: 309 Pontius Ave N Seattle, WA 98109
