Camp Rock
Description
During music class, kids most often learn about classical composers and traditional tunes. At Camp Rock, my goal is to demonstrate that the rock and pop music they experience and enjoy every day in the world outside of school is just as valuable in our culture! In the course of this program, kids will either work to improve their skills at an instrument (including voice) they already play or choose a new instrument to explore. Programmers will select at least one song to cover AND collaborate to write their own original song (as a band!) - at the end of the week they will perform for the rest of the kids at summer program. In the mornings, we will focus on instrument instruction and the musical building blocks of rock and pop songs, and after lunch, band practice will take place. We hope you will join us for this musical exploration!
