Description
Campers will have fun on the water while learning paddling and rescue techniques, and kayaking safety.

All participants will wear properly fitted lifejackets (provided), and experience using kayaks suited to their ability levels.
We will start on flat lake water and proceed to the Connecticut River (flatwater above the Wilder Dam), and work towards taking a trip on moving water below the dam.
Day 1: Intro to kayaking, practice techniques on land and on the water
Day 2: Trip on Lake Fairlee
Day 3: Connecticut River, Wilson Landing, up to Ompompanoosuc River and back to Wilson Landing
Day 4: Connecticut River-run of the river trip, above Wilder Dam, flat water
Day 5: Connecticut River moving water trip, below the dam, wth ripples but not white water.

Emphasis will be on safety while having fun and learning. No experience necessary, though we welcome paddlers with kayaking and canoeing experience.

Instructor: Bonna Wieler, ACA Essentials instructor, white water and ocean touring.
