Food Insecurity- Junior/Senior Community Service Camp
Description
Food Insecurity—Junior / Senior Community Service camp
Grade 11-12

What is it like to walk in the shoes of someone experiencing hunger? This workshop will offer a glimpse into the daily realities and impossible choices of someone confronting food insecurity. This workshop will combine a deep dive into the realities of and causes behind food insecurity as well as offer students hands-on experience to serve within Dallas. Students will participate in service projects at a variety of local agencies including the North Texas Food Bank and Bonton Farms. Specific details of the daily itinerary (with drop-off and pick-up locations) will be provided by May 15
Note that participation in this service-learning project fulfills the 15 community service hours required for rising Juniors. Rising seniors may also fulfill this requirement with this camp, but need to discuss with Parish’s Director of Community Service, Shannon Longfield to confirm before signing up.
Students will need to provide their own transportation to school and to off-site volunteering.
