English 12 CP (Virtual; Howarth)
Description
Summer Courses for Credit General Information

Summer Courses for Credit are restricted to CHCA students enrolled for the following school year. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and opens on 01/27/24.
At registration, you will schedule a future automatic payment for the full amount. Payment is non-refundable and non-transferable after 02/17/24 at 12:00 p.m. Payments collected on 02/23/24. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, the scheduled payment will be cancelled before any fees are collected. If the cancellation impacts your student’s 2024-2025 course selections, you may contact us at that time for adjustments to their schedule.
Email the teacher directly if you have questions about the course content, workload, or syllabus. No classes are held on weekends.
Because summer course schedules are condensed and academic content is uncompromised, attendance is strictly enforced, and a student cannot pass a class for which he/she is not present for the stated meeting times. Please do not register for summer classes that conflict with the student’s other summer obligations.

Students examine British Literature and prepare for the challenges of college writing with preparations in literary analysis, critical thinking, and research. Studies from diverse voices focus on Asian-American literature. Students build upon grammar and usage skills and continue to study vocabulary in literary context. Theological integration occurs during the analysis of literary themes. Students place works in historical context and grow in their understanding of literary forms such as the epic, satire, persuasion, and poetic forms with an emphasis on biblical principles. Students demonstrate leadership in discussions and classroom presentations and produce a Literary Research Paper. The students will also demonstrate a mastery of the English language through the continual development of their written responses and the close adherence to correct sentence structure, syntax, and appropriate formal voice. The students will be approaching their analysis of literature from the perspective of the Christian reader and will use knowledge of their faith and history to evaluate the texts. This is a full credit of English.

Self-Paced and managed through Canvas.
