Description
Campers will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on holidays and traditions from many different cultures and parts of the world. This will allow campers to develop compassion as they learn about holidays that they may not celebrate themselves but are important to people all around them. Campers will listen to read aloud's such as, How to Catch a Dragon, Too Many Tamales, Binny's Diwali, and Shmelf the Hanukkah Elf. Campers will have fun this week through creative, hands on projects. Possible activities could include: decorating gingerbread houses, making masks for Mardi Gras, learning how to play spin the dreidel, and making paper lanterns for Chinese New Years. Campers will also have choice time in the morning where they get to choose from a variety of different stations to explore.These inquiry based projects will provide students with opportunity to expand their knowledge and curiosities about holidays that are new to them in fun and engaging ways!
